Detox

Wow, just Detox. Not d-tox, or deTox, or even detoXX. Guess the '90s are over.

Well, it's not like I didn't rise to the challenge.

The problem is, this shit is bogus. Like in The Laws of Thermodynamics.

If you don't have a patriarchy-approved body, nothing you do is "pretty." And, you know, you don't get to quit the game. You get dissed for having the audacity of displaying a non-fuckable body in public.

If you do have a P-approved body, you don't get out, either. If you do mainstream pornisation, some men will get off on it. If you do mainstream gross-out, many men will still get off on it. You only get to choose between signifying sex or signifying chicks are dumb sluts (and therefore unthreatening). You do not get to quit the game.

But no worries, 40, 45, 50, something like that, we'll quit the game for ya, and you'll become invisible. Welcome to the Patriarchy.

Beauty is not all about fucking or fantasies about it. Beauty is also about simply enjoying the look, without any sexual component. I mean, you don't look at a beautiful landscape with hills, trees, a lake, and a river, and snow-white mountains in the background and then think of sex due to that beauty, do you?

The same can be true for people. Some people are just more pleasant to look at than others, and some are beautiful enough to give them a long, enjoying look without any (or at least without any *conscious*) thought of sex. Or even further interest of personal contact (something many women do seem to misunderstand, I must say...).

Oh, and while there is certainly still too much patriarchy in our society, it is not *everywhere*. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. ;-)

I mean, come on. That's the exact reason my stance has always been, don't go on vacation; /move/, it's the only way to get to know a place, because it's the only way to get to know the *people*. No, I don't mean Biblical "know", that's not the point yet.

The point is, you can look at a picture. The picture will be perfect, in that the weather will be just right. The perspective will be just right. If a person is shown, chances are it's one of their three or four angles that are not crap. If a landscape is shown, chances are 5m to the left and 5m to the right, there's something really boring or unappealing. The picture is always better than actually being there. And it's not just because the picture only shows the good and hides the bad. It's not framing; it's not just because the picture is a Beautiful Lie. It's because you call up the picture, and it's there. You're done looking, you close the window. Real life? Five hours' flight, five minutes of looking at whatever would be in the picture, a shrug, and then another five hours' flight back. Ten hours gross, five minutes net. Unless you have sex there, you don't get a lot of, haha, bang for the buck. Because once you're there, you're stuck with the question of, "So what? What do I do with this?"

And the only thing you can do in a beautiful scenario is make out with someone, which is sex, or take a picture of yourself in it, which is also sex.

So damn well do I think of sex.

Oh, but it is everywhere.
To rephrase, if there is a place that's free of it, I'd like to know where it is, and move there.

Which reminds me that I need to follow up the article on Malta. I think Gibraltar may be next. They have the pound. The speak English, sort of, but they really aren't. And sometimes, you can't use one of the main streets because planes are crossing.

I also don't think of sex when talking to interesting minds via the net. ;-)

So sometimes, a good thing is good in itself, without any relation to copulation, which is what the Freudian quote tries to express.
